Lions 03:07
We've been simmering in memories, our guilty imaginations stewing in the sun The echo split out which a devil spun a web of mirrors, a silver sun Eyes shimmering in denial, bite your tongue and see it through Faith, in illusion, oh we are Lions, marching backwards, is there something we should know? My lions are marching backwards, is there something we should know? Buy a ticket, take a seat, pull your heart out your mouth
2.
I went whaling in my gap year I found myself beneath the bones and the blubber The last priest alive was a decent geezer What happens on deck will end up in your freezer Where we are there's no broadband The bonus pot is full of sand No Kenyans to crawl for my Instagram Just salt, heat and honest hours The look in their eyes, you know, is not easy to bear The sun in the sky, you know, roasts the blood in the air I went whaling in my gap year I found a place where truth is easy Don't think too much about the consequences Well I'm used to that The look in their eyes, you know, is not easy to bear The sun in the sky, you know, roasts the blood in the air I used to play along, my star is smudge, there's something wrong Can you see where I get it from
3.
I've been throwing Whales into the Thames With my new best friend I can't decide which side to die for So I'll bite the pillow and watch the numbers swell Whatever that means I don't believe, I'm who I say I am My heat has ceased to trust my eyes I'm a ballerina, in a hi vis Waiting for my century Bottle up your spirit Send it to me Whatever that means I don't believe, I'm who I say I am My heat has ceased to trust my eyes Oh their cynicism turns me on I'm beyond the groove
4.
Hungry Boy 03:10
You've been a naughty boy, haven't you You pushed the button just so You and your choir of scavengers Know all the right notes We're not strong enough to look away We are vultures too Watching your gruelling circus trick From the balcony Watch out brother that joke's got teeth We were sucked in by the glamour of the heat When I make a mess I keep it to myself But there you are, strutting like a swan in an abattoir Close your eyes and dream it so Cast a spell and let it go All our fears are coming home But you won't stop smiling Your wedding day the hyenas are glowing Your wedding day I'm on the edge of my seat Contrarians on both sides of the isles have found They've singing from the same hymn sheet
5.
The Circus 03:17
I'm an instrument baby I belong to the moon My scented stripes vibrate When I'm in the mood The big top baby Plays a lonely game Only a mind like yours could stir A body so tame I grew tired of the circus, grew scared of the groove, I made an escape, I see you did too I'm an instrument baby Am I your first one Let the heat of our daydreams Power the sun The circus baby Had lost its charm The higher I climb The less I see I made an escape, I see you did too

about

After the failure of everything they've tried to date, Bradford brothers Sister Wanzala are having another go and by releasing 'The Circus EP'.

Leaving the behind the cold funk sound perfected in many a session in Peckham, the band now sound like a sub par Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds tribute act.

Patrick Wanzala-Ryan's guitars fizz n prickle in-and-out-of time and his vocals burp n drone in-and-out-of tune.

On the other hand, his younger twin brothers, Mark Wanzala-Ryan (Drums) and Chris Wanzala-Ryan (Bass), are wetsuit tight and bring peak Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit to mind.

All tracks were recoded in three takes (or less) at The Crows Nest Studios with the fantastic Jonny Coddington (Joanna Gruesome, Abattoir Blues, Deep Throat Choir etc etc).

We collaborated with Joe Gamble on the artwork again - and he did a rather good job too.

Finally, a special shout out to the lovely George and India at Hairy Recordings for all their support :)
